Thank you to everyone who joined me at the Beyond Math Conference this summer. I hope you enjoyed my presentation on Getting the Most out of Math Tasks. As promised, here are some additional resources to accompany that presentation.
Staircase Task
During the video I did three tasks. First, I did a classic task called the Staircase Task.

I created a video to share different solutions to this task. I focus on solutions that connect to the geometric representations. There are more solutions than what I show in this video, if you have some favorite solutions that I didn’t show let me know!
Cow and Chicken Task
The second task was also a classic, the Cow and Chicken Task. I talk about my favorite solution and other considerations in the video below.

In the video, I mention that I have another video (from my other project the Two-Minute Teacher’s Guide) that discusses variables in more depth. If you want to check out that video see below!
Substitution Task
Finally, I created a substitution task so that I could help broaden students’ use of substitution to solve systems of linear equations.

I discuss the task in more depth below.
So there you have it, more resources to accompany my task. Remember, try to think about each task in terms of what to do before, during, and after in order to get the most out of every task. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the session or any of the videos above, just send me an email or comment below.
